Londoners are all cautiously returning to pubs, restaurants and shops, ensuring we’re wearing a face mask, sanitising our hands and keeping our distance from people.
It’s difficult, but it’s important.
One problem many of us encounter is that we might go somewhere such as the supermarket only to find it’s much busier than expected – but now there’s an app to help fix that problem.

Since June 15, non-essential shops have been able to reopen and now leisure attractions are starting to open as well.

Previously, Google released a tool that would give you an idea if someone was standing too close to you using AR – but it was only available on Android smartphones.
It involved using your camera to show you where two metres away is, but in reality you’re hardly going to walk around a supermarket using it.
Instead, this new app – Crowdless – lets you know how busy a place is before you leave the house, using a simple traffic light system.
Previously called Keep your Distance, the app uses AI technology and crowdsourced information to gather data on different locations and even lets you set up favourites so you can check your local store quickly.
It will make suggestions of other nearby places that may be less crowded, and users are asked to give feedback on the busyness of a location once they arrive there.
Alex Barnes, Co-Founder, said: “We’re all trying to juggle multiple things at the moment – working from home, home schooling, speaking with friends, making meals. We don’t want to waste precious time waiting in line.
“On average, we were spending five and a half hours a month waiting in lines before COVID-19 and now it’s much more. Checking Crowdless for five seconds can save you hours of waiting in a queue.”
We’ve set up a Facebook group for London residents to share information and advice which benefits the community and helps keep people safe regarding the current pandemic.
Please join this group to share information, find out more and offer or get help in the local community if it’s needed.

Currently, the data only applies for supermarkets and pharmacies.
The app is completely free, available on iPhone and Android and has global coverage.
