WhatsApp is constantly adding new features and functionality to its platform. Now the company has added a bunch of new features to its Android and its Business apps. The update not only makes changes to the dark mode, which has been under development for quite sometime now, but its also brings bug fixes to the app.
Let’s talk about WhatsApp’s Android app first.
Bug fixes: WhatsApp has fixed bugs in its beta app for Android. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the beta version 2.19.365 of WhatsApp’s Android app brought a number of bugs to the app with the most severe one of them leading to the app crashing after the splash screen. The Facebook owned company has fixed this issue in beta version 2.19.366.
New emoji skin: The company has also added new emoji skins for six emoji that show man and woman in a wheelchair and using a stick to walk.
Wallpaper: WhatsApp users can change the wallpaper in their Android apps by visiting the Chat Settings of the now. Now in its beta app, the company has moved this feature to a different Display sub-setting under the Chat Setting section, making the distinction a bit more clear.
Dark Theme: In addition to the above mentioned changes, WhatsApp has also made changes to the app’s dark theme, which is still under development. The company has added a new Theme option under the Display sub-setting within the Chats Settings. The Theme option lies above the Wallpaper option, that I talked about earlier. This option would allow users to set theme of their app which as of now includes three options – light, dark and system default (for phones running on Android 10).
In case you are curious, the popular social messaging app has not revealed as to when it would finally roll out the dark theme feature on its Android or iOS apps.
WhatsApp Business beta for Android: WhatsApp has added a new Cards feature to its Business beta app on Android. It is available with the beta update version 2.19.131. The company is planning to add three new cards under the Home section of the app, which was added in beta version 2.19.117. These cards, as per the blogsite contain informative notice about what settings users can configure in their WhatsApp Business account. While the first card allows users to manage their sent messages, the second card allows users to manage their profiles. The card, on the other hand, enables users to manage their catalog.
