Facebook-owned messenger app, WhatsApp, continues to upgrade and modifies its features for better usability of the app. Whatever changes the developers first appear on the Google Play Beta Program of the app.
As per WABetaInfo, the website that tracks the development of the messenger app, developers have added a number of features to the app. Firstly, they have included six new emoji skins to the app that are “woman in manual wheelchair”, “man in manual wheelchair”, “woman in motorized wheelchair”, “man in motorized wheelchair”, “woman with probing cane”, and “man with probing cane”.
Secondly, the Wallpaper option in the app has been shifted from Chat Settings to a different menu item called “Display”. It seems the “Display” option will make way for the users to control the settings under the much-awaited “Dark Theme”.
The developers have also added an interesting self-destructing message feature on the app in Android beta. With this, the users will be able to choose time intervals for the visibility of messages. There are five options of time intervals available that are 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year. Therefore, if you choose 1 day, the messages you type will get automatically get deleted after 1 day. This is a feature that has already been adopted by other messenger apps such as Snapchat and Telegram.
WhatsApp continues to work on the new Dark Theme feature on the messenger platform. In the latest 2.19.366 update, the developers have added a Dark Mode optimization option on Display option in Chat Settings. They seem to be working on three themes for Dark Mode – light, dark, and battery saver. We are not yet sure when WhatsApp will make the Dark Theme live for all the users.
Before this, a Twitter post (@techauntyji) revealed that WhatsApp is currently working on a feature where a message will be sent to the person soon after you have blocked them on the platform. As per the post, the feature would be added as an option for WhatsApp users.
